The picture color can be falsifield, if Your display is not calibrated.
By calibrated systems with correctly contrast/brightness setings, all gray surfaces should remain clean gray and fully differentiable.

With a properly adjusted monitor and True Color graphics card, all gray areas are differentiable. For non-calibrated display and a lower color depth, these may not consistently gray and have colored differences. In this case, images may be also fail alienated.
